Menopause, My Spouse and My Genes.
Premature ovarian failure (POF), which is diagnosed in 1 in 100 women ages 30 to 39, results from the depletion of a woman's supply of eggs early in her reproductive years. Several genes implicated in menopause. The gene (ENO1) has been shown to be down-regulated after menopause. The HDC gene polymorphisms are significantly associated with Abnormal low age at natural menopause (AANM) in Caucasian women. FOXO3a is another gene implicated in menopause. It is that if the FOXO3a gene is not working as it should, follicle activation is not regulated properly. There are definitely other genes effecting the amplitude and age of onset of menopause and the trait is polygenic. Characterization of these genes and designed treatment may lead to higher onset ages and less complicated syndromes.
However, I do not think that will help with the relationship between the two sexes. As long as the men do not have the quality to say '' I love you despite your graying hair'' and relay on other ''measures '' for their relationship, a menopausal treatment will help very little to sustain a relationship.
