Human-Animal Hybrid Embryos Approved For Research In Britain

ScienceDaily (Sep. 7, 2007) — The following is the statement by the Human Fertilisation and Embryo Authority, the body which oversees human embryo research in Britain. The group will allow the creation of part-human, part-animal hybrid embryos for research purposes. British regulations already require that human embryos for research purposes are destroyed within 14 days of their creation.

Embryo business is a common in vitro fertilization IVF business, a black market in middle eastern countries. When the test tube (in vitro fertilized) embryo is at the 8 cell stage one of the cells is taken out and Y-chromosome tests are performed. that cell is wasted after the test. If the embryo is a male then the remaining cells are implanted into mother uterus. There is a big demand for the male embryos in the middle east. And no regulation stops the black market.

I do not think there is a demand for the animal-human hybrid embryos but regulations can be bypassed. Research but to what extend ?
