Thanksgiving
The First Thanksgiving was celebrated to express thanks to God and the Native Americans for helping the pilgrims survive the brutal winter. It was the Native Americans teaching the pilgrims to harvest food and help them survive the winter. The first Thanksgiving feast lasted three whole days providing enough celebration food for about 53 pilgrims and 90 Indians.
On the first feast turkey was any type of common food that the pilgrims hunted. The foods in the first feast included, geese, duck, fish, lobster, clams, dried fruit, pumpkin, squash, vegetables and all kinds of.
Later, turkey meat became the main dish of thanks giving tables. Turkey is just an icon of appreciation of Gods givings to human beings. Food was the main donation of God to people at that time.
Times have changed. Today we have thousands of "donations from God" to which we need to express our thanks.
Thanks for giving us drugs like Tamiflu. Flu can not kill 20-100 million people as in 1918.
We are not going to over-advertise Tamiflu for swine-flu and have it consumed more than necessary.
Thanks for giving us cell-phones. We can communicate with everybody in the world without borders.
We are not going to overuse cellphones with high radiation and predispose ourselves to brain tumor.
Thanks for giving us the sun and the wind. We can produce our energy without destroying your other belonging, the nature.
We will gradually reduce the consumption of carbon based fuel.
Thanks for giving us the internet and the social media. Information can spread faster than the swine flu. Human beings can share both good and bad, instantly. For good we can celebrate for bad we can brainstorm together and find a solution.
We are not going to use the internet and the media for one sided news and over-advertisement.
Everything, God bestowed to human beings is abundant and enough for all the world population to live a prosperous life.
Thanks God.
We will share everything evenly.
