Fat and Diet. You are a Phat Dude.
"Most people think that fat is bad and the more you have the worse it is," said Gökhan Hotamisligil of Harvard School of Public Health. "To a certain extent that may be true, but it's far too simplistic. Rather than being one chemical entity, fats are actually a huge soup of things with hundreds of molecules and many different structures. In the blood, high fatty acids and triglycerides are often considered bad and low levels good, but it's not quite that way. It depends what constitutes this soup rather than how much you have."

It seems that "HDL is good cholesterol and LDL is bad cholesterol" myth is over. I was always wondering about that, cause the formulation was so simple that it sounded like a commercial for the average Joe. Buy this drug, it lowers your bad cholesterol and increases your good chollesterol. It was as simple as "the bad cops and good cops stories" that Hollywood sold for years.
The team led by Hotamişligil of Harvard went ahead and identified a lipid (phat) hormone that prevents formation of sugar from fat in the liver. The palmitoleate derivative (phat) is apparently a hormone and is as potent as insulin in regulating the blood sugar/fat balance.
There is a tremendous therapeutic potential in this discovery.
Fat or Phat. Is that a small or big difference ?
