The flu threat turned into an epidemic, as the government reported 95 deaths from H1N1. 351 schools closed down nationwide, shutting out 126,000 students in 19 states—to prevent spread of the flu. Out of 80 million to 120 million doses it was promised this summer, only more than 23 million doses have been delivered.

Worldwide, more than 5,000 people have reportedly died from swine flu since it emerged this year and developed into a global epidemic according to the World Health Organization. The figure is considered an underestimate, since most countries have stopped counting individual swine flu cases.

In public declarations, Obama prefers the abbreviation H1N1 over "swine flu". However, being kind enough does not solve the problem. Solid steps should be taken to prevent swine flu becoming a global pandemic.

I believe Obama's homework on H1N1 is a good indicator of the Washington designed health care reform in general.
