Santa Clause and His Bones
According to Turkish references, Santa Clause did not come from beyond the North Pole where Rein-deers exist, but lived under the warm Lycian sun as Bishop of small town Myra. Indeed his church and ex-tomb still exists as places of pilgrimage in the town of Demre, near southern city Antalya/Turkey.
Turkish references further state that Italian Merchants steal the bones of St. Nicholas from his tomb in Demre/Antalya, and take them to Bari, Italy in 1087AD.
This was unofficially approved by the Church, which was anxious in case the shrine of the saint was desecrated in the many wars and attacks in the region. Also, by that time, the schism between the Universal Church creating Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox, was an important factor. The Roman Church felt that the bones of the most popular of saints should be in their safe keeping!
However, enough other bones were found in Myra and transferred to the Antalya Museum.
Stolen from Demre brought to Bari.
A DNA test may resolve the long disputed issue. Do these groups of bones have the same DNA or not ?
Was Santa Clause riding rein-deers or sun bathing in Mediterranean ?
