Music Genome Project
Music is as various as human beings are. There is Jazz, pop, rock, fusion, classical, classical rock, folk music, turkish folk music, classical art music, some tones that probably are extinct like the species that are saying goodbye to the world every day and you name it.
Human beings are products of DNA and the cultural productions of humans, in other words "anything that can be copyrighted" is a function of DNA. Are there musical genes ? There are two approaches to analyse the genes and the music. The first one is music oriented. Starting from music going down to genes as the project below;
The Music Genome Project®
From music to genes.
On January 6, 2000 a group of musicians and music-loving technologists came together with the idea of creating the most comprehensive analysis of music ever.
Together we set out to capture the essence of music at the most fundamental level. We ended up assembling literally hundreds of musical attributes or "genes" into a very large Music Genome. Taken together these genes capture the unique and magical musical identity of a song - everything from melody, harmony and rhythm, to instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics, and of course the rich world of singing and vocal harmony. It's not about what a band looks like, or what genre they supposedly belong to, or about who buys their records - it's about what each individual song sounds like..............

The second approach is starting from genes and going up into music. The following links give you the tone of the steps of translation, the process of genes coming alive. Basically, every single beat you hear is a letter in the protein.

Maybe in the future, cancer, heart disease, alzheimer's genes will be translated into music as depressing as Schostakowich.
According to J. Malmsteen.
There is a long way to go,
Future will show.
The road (DNA) is leading me.
I will never die
Cause I will fly to the other side.....
Enjoy..
