There are about 25.000 estimated genes in human genome. Only around 1500-2000 of these genes are known with their functions. The rest, 20.000 genes are read but the meanings are not deciphered yet. These genes are not different than unidentified Egyptian Hieroglyphs for the time being. We can see the letters but we do not know their meaning.

The current pharmacy industry (big pharma) is based on the the partial knowledge of the 1500-2000 known genes. However, within the next 5 years the rest of the 20000 genes will be highly characterized. Nearly all of the meaning of these genes will be resolved. The technology behind it is the search engine technology, the technology of Google. There is no limit and the advancement will be so fast, in fractions of a decade.

In 5 years from now when you go to your doctor with your genome information of all 25.000 genes in your flash disk. The doctor will do a search engine session on your data and will prescribe you only the drugs that do good to you but not to others.

ın a 2GB standart flash disk, 100 individuals genome information will fit.

We really will talk about personalized medicine than as the description below.

Personalized Medicine is the concept that managing a patient's health should be based on the individual patient's specific characteristics, including age, gender, height/weight, diet, environment, etc. Recent developments in genetic testing allow the development of "Genomic Personalized Medicine" and Predictive Medicine, which is the combination of comprehensive genetic testing with proactive, personalized preventive medicine.
