Pharma-Co-Genomics

Pharmacogenomics is the study of how an individual's genetic inheritance affects the body's response to drugs. The term comes from the words pharmacology and genomics and is thus the intersection of pharmaceuticals and genetics.

For a skilled person in the art there is a phonetic nuance in the term that reflects the interface between science and the industry.

If the term is more "advertised" than the science behind it that may lead to commercial industry.

The example is prozac.

"
The study, one of the first to examine the ecotoxicological effects of Prozac (fluoxetine) on native freshwater mussels, found that the drug caused females to prematurely release their larvae, essentially dooming them. The findings were presented today at the 232nd national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society. "

Apparently over-used Prozac gets into sewage and finds its way to fresh water. The fresh water mussles have enough Prozac not to get depress even if they are placed in salt water.

If the term is over-advertised and the term will close to "Pharma- Genetics and Co" in meaning that is not good.
