These media make the day to day communication faster and wider. However, the basics of human to human communication is still the same. In the figure (Google trends "bird flu, swine flue") you see a graphical picture of near history records. If you are interested into bird flu because of the current epidemic of swine flu you get that record in a fraction of a second. This is unbelievable. Written records have never been that organized in the history.

X-GAL ( Beta-Galactosidase) is a marker gene. The gene being a small blue tag is attached to protein of interest. When the protein of interest is present in a particular organism the organism turns into blue indicating the presence of the protein. X-GAL is a marker gene for GMOs.
